What you’ll do

- Design, analyze, and test new star tracker products while improving existing models to meet mission requirements.
- Develop, integrate, and configure testing setups for both production and research projects related to star trackers.
- Collect and analyze performance data at both component and system levels to ensure quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to investigate root causes of issues and resolve non-conformities effectively.
- Work alongside the production team to facilitate the assembly, integration, and testing processes for star tracker products.
- Provide support to the business development team by addressing technical inquiries from customers and stakeholders.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
- Document design processes, test results,



and performance evaluations to maintain comprehensive records for future reference.

Requirements

- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering or physical sciences.
- At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical engineering or a closely related area.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in the design, development, or testing of optical systems.
- Strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented mindset to assess complex engineering challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team workplace and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using software tools for data analysis and visualization.

Nice to have

- Over 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- More than 5 years of experience in the design, development, or testing of optical systems.
- A master's degree in physics, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in optical design software, particularly Zemax OpticStudio.
- Familiarity with optomechanical design principles and the selection of appropriate components.
- Understanding of spacecraft system design and the unique challenges posed by the space environment.




- Knowledge of lens manufacturing techniques and assembly processes.
- Experience with stray light analysis and mitigation methods.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Proficient problem‑solving abilities to address engineering challenges.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization using programming languages such as Python or Matlab.
- Familiarity with version control systems like GIT or SVN.
- Experience in programming embedded microcontrollers using C.

Practical notes

The expected salary range for this position is between $93,000 and $117,000 CAD, in line with the Ontario Pay Transparency Act. The final compensation package will be tailored based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. In addition to the base salary, the compensation may include stock options, cash bonuses, and eligibility for the Employee Stock Purchase Program.
