That's the KGS way.The RoleWe are looking for an Environmental Department Head to join our Environmental team in our Vancouver office. In this role you will lead, develop, manage and motivate an emerging team of engineers, technicians and scientists with a focus on all aspects of environmental scopes of work for clients in various industries and markets. The successful candidate will have the freedom and flexibility to continue to grow the team based in Vancouver. Successful candidate experience should include environmental engineering services involving, but not necessarily limited to site assessment, remediation and risk management; hydrogeology and hydrogeological engineering; emergency response; demolition and hazardous building materials assessment; solid waste management; and/or geothermal applications.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, develop, manage,
and motivate an emerging team of engineers, technicians and scientists with a focus on environmental workProduce, supervise, and manage engineering deliverables on a variety of projectsTrack and manage key performance metrics for the department including, but not limited to, win ratio on proposals, revenue, chargeability and client satisfactionEvaluate the department needs on an ongoing basis and make recommendations for recruitment and retention and participate in recruitment opportunities as they ariseParticipate in business development activities, including assessing Go/No-Go opportunities with the Market Lead and Regional Manager, while leading and writing proposalsLiaise and coordinate with other disciplines within the company to execute projectsHelp to maintain strong relationships with clientsTrain, coach, supervise, and mentor staff with their career growth and professional developmentCoordinate with external consultants and vendors as required to ensure smooth project deliveryAbout YouBachelor's Degree in Civil/Environmental/Geological Engineering, or equivalentRegistration as a Skilled Engineer with EGBC, or equivalentA minimum of 15 years or more of environmental engineering experienceA minimum of 5 years experience in managing personnel teamsStrong project management, leadership, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills,
and ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineersExperience working directly with clients and managing/fostering existing relationships in addition to forming new onesStrong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage diverse workloads, potentially with conflicting deadlines or prioritiesStrong written communication skills and the ability to produce, review, and delegate technical reports, proposals and other forms of non-formal written communicationEntrepreneurial mindset and propensity for business development will be considered a strong asset for this roleHighly proactive with exceptional problem solving/analytical skillsStrong proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office (excel, word, PowerPoint)Society of Contaminated Sites Approved Professional is considered an asset but not a requirementThe salary for this role is between $160,000.00 to $180,000.00a nnually.Please note that the salary range mentioned in this job description is a guide.
