By joining us, you will be welcomed into a diverse team of talented developers creating an immersive universe of story, character, and discovery.YOUR ARCAs Senior VFX Artist, you will own the creation and implementation of high-end real-time visual effects that bring our game worlds to life. In this role, you will bridge the gap between artistic vision and technical execution, designing everything from gameplay combat effects to immersive environmental atmospheres. You will establish production pipelines, and ensure all effects are optimized for peak performance across target hardware.ResponsibilitiesIndependently discern what effects are needed by design and conceptualize and build complex real-time effects such as explosions, weather and destruction using the Unreal EngineOwn VFX creation methods and prioritization of VFX as related to production milestonesCollaborate with other disciplines to ensure VFX clearly communicate gameplay mechanics and work alongside engineers to develop custom tools,
shaders and materialsMaintain balance between visual fidelity and technical performance, managing overdraw, memory usage, and draw calls to meet strict frame rate targetsCreate and maintain a shared VFX library and documentationStay ahead of the industry trends by researching and prototype new techniques in fluid dynamics, procedural simulations and shader developmentWork with external partners on cooperative VFX generation and integration into the gameQualifications and Experience5+ years of professional experience in game VFX with at least 1 AAA title shippedAdvanced proficiency in real-time particle systems such as Niagara/PopcornFX and 3D packages such as Houdini, Maya and BlenderA strong portfolio demonstrating mastery of timing, weight, color theory and compositionProven ability to write and optimize custom shaders or use node-based editors to achieve unique visual stylesKnowledge of visual scripting like Unreal blueprintsBENEFITSWe offer a rewards package to help you live your best life while doing your best work, including medical and dental coverage, retirement savings contributions and a FlexBenefit program that has a wide array of coverage to best fit your personal situation.We offer 3 weeks of vacation per year in addition to summer and winter studio breaks that are each two weeks long.The hiring range for this position is $130,000–$180,000 in addition to a bi-yearly performance-based bonus.
