Your Opportunity:

The Rising Sun Long Term Care Centre (LTC) is home to 30 Elderly Residents. Nestled 58kms southwest of Calgary in beautiful Diamond Valley, Alberta. The vibrant Oilfields General Hospital offers an excellent rural care giver opportunity in a unique and diverse Alberta Health Services care facility. The Health Care Aide (HCA) in LTC works in a Resident Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the Residents and their families in a home like setting. The HCA will work diligently to enhance the Residents activities of daily living by providing compassionate Resident centered care. The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness as outlined in https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/education/student-aid/grants-loans/repay/assistance/doctors-nurses/amount.html. You may be eligible for the Rural Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program if you meet other eligibility requirements.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire. Additional Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Preferred Qualifications:

Long Term Care Nursing Experience. Completion of Supportive Pathways or equivalent dementia care education or experience. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. Demonstrated Palliative Care experience.
