Martha''s Regional Hosptial (SMRH), Antigonish, is seeking full-time emergency medicine physicians to join their team.

Classified as a Level 2 ED it is a stimulating chance for ED specialists as well as FM+ trained ED physicians.

The physician and nursing teams are highly qualified and incredibly supportive.

There is opportunity to engage in research and/or teaching positions with Dalhousie University, as well as local simulation-based opportunities. SMRH is approximately two hours from the province''s Level 1 trauma centres (life flight available), and the tertiary care pediatric facility, the IWK Health Centre, which provides neonatal support.

Martha''s Regional Hospital is approximately a 90 bed facility (8-bed ED) with more than 60 physicians practicing in a variety of medical specialties and sub-specialties.

This facility serves a population of nearly 60, from Antigonish, Guysborough, and surrounding communities.

Emergency physicians are joined by colleagues in: anesthesia dermatology family medicine general surgery geriatrics hospitalist internal medicine (general and sub-specialty who cover the 6 bed ICU) obstetrics/gynecology ophthalmology otolaryngology palliative care pediatrics plastic surgery psychiatry radiology (U/S, CT, MRI, ECHO)



visiting oncology and neurology Community based care is further supported by a men''s and women''s health centre, chronic pain clinic, methadone clinic, walk-in clinic, and youth clinic at the local high school.

Responsibilities duties include full scope of practice as an emergency physician providing care to patients within the eastern zone the physician will be responsible to the zone department head for emergency medicine for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority Expected Hours full-time 8-hour shifts available flexible shifts each month overlap and single coverage shifts Qualifications eligible for licensure with the (CPSNS) eligible for certification with the (RCPSC); or eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) membership with the (CMPA) ATLS, ACLS, PALS and advanced Airway training are required
