Maintenance Planner Buyer Location: Mississauga, ON Work Arrangement: Onsite Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Schedule: 40 Hours per Week | 8-Hour Day Shift with a Flexible Start Time Compensation: CAD $78,520 Annually Travel: Not Required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner Buyer to join a manufacturer of sustainable packaging solutions serving the food, retail, and healthcare industries.

This role combines maintenance planning and scheduling with purchasing, inventory coordination, and equipment reliability support.

You will work closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Procurement, storeroom personnel, contractors, and outside vendors to ensure maintenance work is properly planned, safely executed, and completed efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands industrial maintenance and enjoys bringing structure to complex schedules, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring technicians have the parts, tools, and information needed to complete their work successfully.

Key Responsibilities Purchase maintenance parts, tools, supplies, and contracted services.

Develop daily and weekly schedules for preventive, predictive, corrective, and planned maintenance.

Create detailed job plans that include labor, parts, tools, documentation, permits, safety procedures, and post-maintenance activities.

Identify and address potential safety risks associated with planned maintenance work.

Prioritize Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance activities.

Maintain accurate preventive maintenance tasks, equipment information, and maintenance frequencies in the CMMS.

Ensure production equipment has accurate spare-parts information documented in the system.

Identify required parts and confirm availability before scheduled maintenance begins.

Coordinate maintenance inventory and spare-parts requirements with technicians and storeroom personnel.





Prepare purchase-order requests for parts, tools, contractors, and specialty services.

Plan scheduled downtime, shutdowns, maintenance outages, and equipment improvement projects.

Coordinate maintenance activities with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, contractors, and OEM service providers.

Convert emergency and reactive maintenance activities into planned work when practical.

Track and report maintenance backlog, schedule compliance, work completion, and planning metrics.

Maintain and continuously improve the CMMS and associated maintenance records.

Work with technicians to define job scope, procedures, labor requirements, and execution plans.

Support Root Cause Analysis investigations and corrective-action implementation.

Communicate schedule changes, equipment status, and planned downtime requirements.

Attend production, scheduling, and maintenance planning meetings.

Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, cost reduction, and maintenance excellence.

Required Qualifications Technical schooling, specialized maintenance training, or an associate degree in a maintenance-related field.

At least two years of industrial maintenance experience in mechanical, electrical, millwright, multi-craft, or a related discipline.

Previous experience as a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Scheduler, Lead Technician, or in a similar maintenance leadership role.

Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System such as SAP PM, Maximo, eMaint, MVP, or a comparable platform.





Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, and Reliability-Centered Maintenance principles.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, equipment documentation, and maintenance job plans.

Experience supporting maintenance operations within a manufacturing or industrial workplace.

Strong planning, scheduling, purchasing, coordination, and organizational skills.

Technical knowledge and credibility to work effectively with maintenance technicians and engineering teams.

Ability to coordinate contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications Two to five years of technical education or specialized maintenance training.

Experience supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Experience with maintenance purchasing, inventory management, spare-parts planning, or procurement.

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance, or Maintenance Excellence programs.

Experience coordinating contractors, shutdowns, and maintenance improvement projects.

Experience supporting reliability initiatives and equipment improvement programs.
