The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Faculty of Health Sciences, at McMaster University, invites applicants for a 3-year Special Appointment (renewable) faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. This position will be located at McMaster University Main Campus, Medical Centre. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology promotes and supports cutting-edge, integrative, and collaborative basic research in reproduction, development, and related areas of biology, as well as strong connections between basic and clinical research.

We are looking for an individual with an established track record in translational placental research, including a body of published work and evidence of obtaining external research funds to support these projects. Research involving molecular profiling of the placenta including noninvasive methodologies, genomics, epigenetics, machine learning, predictive models and research experience investing cfDNA are also considered assets.

The successful applicant will be involved in a combination of research, educational, and administrative activities with the Department of OBGYN. Research activities will include leading role and/or participation in grants and publications in the area of placental health research.
Educational activities will include teaching and supervision of undergraduate students in multiple programs, residents and graduate students.



The successful candidate will be expected to develop or maintain a robust, independent, externally funded research program.

Collaboration with other members of the department or Faculty of Health Science is also encouraged.

Applicants must have completed a PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in an area related to genomics, computational biology and/or bioinformatics with an in-depth knowledge of placental biology.
