ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY





NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant to join the Pediatric Surgery team at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. John's, NL.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a staff Pediatric Surgeon, supporting the delivery of comprehensive pediatric surgical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This opportunity is open to physicians with a background in Family Medicine or a relevant specialty, as well as those with specific experience or interest in pediatric surgery.

The Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre is a 71-bed tertiary care referral hospital for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Eligible for licensure as a Clinical Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy privileging and credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check




- Experience or interest in Pediatric Surgery considered a strong asset

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide direct and indirect patient care within the Pediatric Surgery program under the supervision of a staff Pediatric Surgeon
- Assist with inpatient rounds, admissions, discharges, and patient investigations
- Support outpatient pediatric surgery clinic services as required
- Provide surgical assistance in the operating room for pediatric surgical procedures
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call coverage as assigned
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Pediatric Surgery team
- Perform other clinical duties within the scope and qualifications of the Clinical Assistant licence
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
