Overview
Waterloo Regional Health Network Cancer Center (WRHN-CC) is recruiting a hospitalist/internist for the inpatient oncology unit at WRHN Midtown (Kitchener). The position is effective immediately for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities
- Cover the inpatient oncology unit from 8 am to 5 pm on 3 out of 4 week blocks (full‑time options available).
- Round on inpatients and admit patients from the Emergency Department during daytime hours.
- Manage patients with solid tumors and malignant hematology on systemic therapy, including induction chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplant, and those admitted with treatment complications.
- Share daytime duties with a second hospitalist and an experienced nurse practitioner specializing in leukemia.
- Participate in medical oncology and malignant hematology backup; receive orientation and guidance.
- Optionally participate in a first‑call system (overnight and weekend) with a separate stipend.
Qualifications
- Certification in Family Medicine by the College of Family Physicians of Canada, or certification in Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Eligibility for independent licensure in Ontario.
- Ability to obtain and maintain privileges at WRHN Midtown site.
- Experience in complex inpatient oncology care preferred.
