We are looking for an experienced Accounting Technician who reflects these values and takes pride in accurate, organized and dependable work.
TPH is a growing mechanical contractor with operations across Edmonton, Westlock and Kelowna, as well as several related companies. You will join an established finance team that includes a CFO, Controller, and dedicated Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff. You will have the support of an experienced team while taking ownership of your responsibilities across our group of companies.
What You’ll Do
Accounting and Reporting
- Complete full-cycle accounting for multiple related companies
- Support monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting
- Reconcile fixed assets, prepaid accounts and shareholder loans
- Support job costing, WIP reporting and labour burden calculations
- Prepare T4s, T5018s and GST remittances
Billing and Collections
- Complete progress billing, customer invoicing and related-company rent rolls
- Process bill payments and maintain the pre-cheque register
- Prepare CAM statements and assist with commercial collections
- Cross-train on accounts receivable, payment posting and deposits
Cash Management and Reconciliations
- Prepare cash budgets ahead of cheque runs
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations across related companies
- Cross-train on inventory processes and provide coverage when required
Team and Process Support
- Provide project details and reporting support to the Controller
- Work collaboratively with the CFO, Controller, and AP and AR staff
- Participate in monthly finance and management meetings
- Help document and improve accounting procedures
- Support and mentor other team members when needed
What You Bring
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- An accounting certificate or diploma
- Strong full-cycle accounting experience
- Understanding of job costing and WIP reporting
- Experience preparing T4s, T5018s and GST remittances
- Strong Excel skills
- Construction or multi-company accounting experience is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A team-oriented approach and willingness to step in where needed
- The ability to take ownership, follow through and communicate when something requires attention
