Overview The Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking applications for a full time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Materials Processing for Sustainability. This position is part of the University of Alberta’s priority to build a diverse faculty in strategic research areas; thus, candidates from traditionally underrepresented and equity-deserving groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications Applicants should have research expertise in materials engineering, focusing on manufacturing processes for sustainability such as advanced carbon materials, fibrous materials, recycled materials, composite materials, and processed products for composite structures and functional devices for energy storage and transportation.

Experience in infrastructure for fossil fuels (gas/oil), greenhouse gas mitigation (e.g., CO2), dual-use applications, and other advanced materials applications is desirable.

Responsibilities The candidate is expected to develop a grant‑funded research program in this area and to teach courses including materials science, mechanical properties, and manufacturing. This role also involves working across disciplinary boundaries within and outside engineering, collaborating with communities and industry, and contributing to the department’s emphasis on interdisciplinary research and high‑quality teaching.
