Are you passionate about solving complex manufacturing challenges and working directly with customers to develop innovative automation solutions?

We are looking for an Automation Applications Specialist to join a growing custom automation manufacturer. This is a customer-facing technical role that bridges engineering, sales, and project execution. You will work closely with customers to understand their manufacturing processes, identify automation opportunities, and develop technical concepts, quotations, and proposals that deliver real business value.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in custom automation, machine design, manufacturing engineering, or applications engineering who enjoys both the technical and commercial aspects of engineering.

What You'll Do

Meet with customers to understand manufacturing challenges, production requirements, and automation opportunities.

Analyze customer processes and develop innovative automation concepts to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.

Lead the applications process from initial customer discussions through concept development, quotation, proposal preparation, and project handoff.

Prepare technical proposals, equipment concepts, cost estimates, cycle time analysis, and ROI calculations.

Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams to develop practical automation solutions.





Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for component selection, pricing, and technical information.

Evaluate technical feasibility, project risks, schedules, and commercial considerations during the quotation stage.

Participate in customer presentations, site visits, and technical discussions throughout the sales process.

Support project teams during transition from sales to execution to ensure customer expectations are achieved.

What We're Looking For

Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

5+ years of experience in custom automation, applications engineering, machine design, manufacturing engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.

Experience developing technical concepts, quotations, proposals, and automation solutions.

Robust understanding of custom machinery, robotics, material handling, automated assembly, motion control, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial automation.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and manufacturing processes.

Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to build relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

Excellent analytical, conceptual design, and problem-solving abilities.

Comfortable working across engineering, manufacturing, project management, and sales teams in a collaborative environment.
