Aviation Base Manager – Grande Prairie
We are looking for an Aviation Base Manager supporting our Grande Prairie base in the Aviation department. As the Aviation Base Manager, you will provide leadership, coordination, and support for the Grande Prairie base aviation operations. Each month, your schedule may include a rotation of flight shifts and in-office administrative duties at our base. While candidates living in or willing to relocate to Grande Prairie are preferred, fit for the role is our top priority. You must live within 1 hour of any one of our six bases, as you may be required to travel to provide pilot coverage across other bases as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coordination, and support for Grande Prairie base aviation operations.
- Maintain required pilot line duties and office/remote presence in consultation with the Director, Flight Operations.
- Support pilot recruitment, scheduling, overtime distribution, and assignment of additional duties in compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
- Represent aviation, engineering, NVG security, heliport liaison, community education, PR, fundraising, and base events as required.
- Coordinate base flight operations, aircraft maintenance requirements, maintenance test flights, and aircraft movements.
- Communicate operational directives, PIFs, and leadership meeting updates to pilots and AMEs.
- Manage base aviation administration including WCB coordination, OH&S; requirements, employee recognition, QM metrics, and CAMTS accreditation.
- Oversee fueling systems, fuel caches, hangar equipment safety, airport security pass requirements, and related quality assurance or inspections.
- Serve as a first point of contact for provincial health aviation inquiries and act as Base Senior Manager or Director, Flight Operations when required.
Education & Related Credentials
- Captain – Current ATPL (H) License
- Co-Captain – Current CPL (H) License; ATPL exams completed
- Current Group IV Instrument Rating
- Night Rating
- Multi-engine helicopter experience
- Crew experience

- All STARS pilot roles are physically demanding and require overall strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular capabilities.
- All pilot roles have bona fide occupational requirements, e.g., physical standards, that are integral to fulfilling the role. These are detailed in the Pilot Physical Demands Analysis that is shared during the recruitment selection process.
- All pilot roles are required to wear personal protective equipment.
Health & Safety Requirements
This position has been identified as safety sensitive. Employment of the preferred candidate will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment Alcohol and Drug test, Physical Fitness to Work assessment, Audiometric testing, as well as providing proof of immunizations.
