Hours: Approximately 13 hours total over both days plus approx. 3 hours of hiring tome prior to event.

Compensation: $20–$25/hour + pre‑event coordination bonus ($100–$200)

About the Event The Vernon Renfaire is a two‑day outdoor festival celebrating medieval arts, performance, vendors, and community. We are seeking a reliable, organized, and rule‑focused Beer Garden Manager to oversee alcohol service and staff within our designated beer garden area.

This role includes pre‑event administrative work such as hiring, scheduling, and onboarding beer garden staff.

Position Overview The Beer Garden Manager is responsible for supervising beer garden operations, ensuring compliance with BC liquor laws, and maintaining a safe, enjoyable environment for guests. This is a short‑term event role ideal for someone with strong customer service or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Oversee beer garden operations during event hours

Ensure compliance with BC Special Event Permit regulationsSupervise servers, cashiers, and support staff

Enforce ID checks and monitor intoxication levels





Maintain incident logs and communicate with event leadership

Coordinate staff breaks and workflow

Manage setup and teardown of beer garden area

Complete pre‑event tasks including hiring, scheduling, and staff onboarding

Ensure all staff have valid Serving It Right certification

Requirements

Serving It Right certification (or willingness to obtain before event)

Robust ability to follow rules, procedures, and safety protocols

Experience in customer service, food service, or supervisory roles

Comfortable enforcing boundaries and making decisionsReliable, punctual, and calm under pressure
