JUST HR is recruiting for a Human Resource & Payroll Specialist to support both corporate operations in British Columbia and site operations in Yukon. This role is important to ensuring employees are supported throughout their employment experience while maintaining accurate, compliant payroll processes across multiple entities. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the organization grow as operations expand around the planned restart of a major copper-gold-silver mining project in Yukon. Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruitment activities including job postings, candidate screening, and interview scheduling
- Prepare employment agreements, employee change documentation, leave paperwork, and termination documents
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience
- Administer employee benefit programs including extended health coverage and Health Spending Account
- Maintain accurate employee files and HR records while ensuring confidentiality
- Update and maintain HR policies, manuals, and job dedescriptions
- Ensure compliance with employment standards and payroll legislation in BC and Yuko
- Identify opportunities to improve HR and payroll systems and processes
- Process full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly rotational employees
- Manage overtime, shift schedules, and payroll adjustments accurately
- Maintain payroll information within ADP or similar payroll system
- Prepare payroll filings and ensure compliance with CRA requirements, including source deductions and T4 reporting
- Coordinate Employer Health Tax and Workers’ Compensation reporting for BC and Yukon
- Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with audits and reporting requirement
- Support a safety-focused and team-oriented workplace culture
Requirements
- 4+ years of HR and payroll experience within Canad
- Direct experience processing Yukon payroll is required
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required
- A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
- CPHR BC & Yukon designation is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of employment standards and payroll legislation in BC and Yukon
- Experience using ADP or similar payroll system
- Experience in mining, industrial, or resource-based environments is considered an asset
- Familiarity with Yukon averaging agreements is an asse
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skill
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- THIS POSITION COULD BE LOCATED IN WHITEHORSE, OR ALTERNATIVELY IN VANCOUVER, WITH SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL REQUIRED
Remuneration
- Salary range of $85,000-$95,000 based on experience and qualifications
