GFL Environmental is looking for a Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team in Cranbrook, BC.

Heavy Duty Mechanics play a crucial role in keeping local neighborhoods clean and safe by ensuring our trucks and motorized equipment are up and running smoothly. A Day in the Life

- Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment
- Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting‑edge equipment
- Completing daily reports, work orders and ordering necessary parts
- Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 Planner and procuring parts
- Assisting in the review of mechanical write‑ups and coordinating repair schedule

Qualifications

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired




- 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
- Relevant criteria for safety‑sensitive functions according to company standards
- Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
- Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job duties
- Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
- Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity
- Ability to kneel, crawl and climb
