Role Overview
The Talent Acquisition Business Partner reports to the Manager, Talent Acquisition. The incumbent delivers full‑cycle recruitment support for the Hamilton LRT project, partnering across Aecon’s Utility and Civil sectors. The role focuses on attracting top talent, building strong hiring manager relationships, and driving creative sourcing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct full‑cycle recruitment for all open roles across the Utilities and Civil division, including sourcing, resume screening, phone screens, interviews, reference checks, and job offer extension.
- Design and execute sourcing strategies and channels to build a pipeline of candidates.
- Maintain an active professional online presence and prospect talent through networks and social media.
- Provide trusted hiring manager advice using diverse interviewing and assessment techniques.
- Consult on labor market insights, recruitment risks, relocation packages, and more.
- Communicate regularly with business leaders to forecast recruitment needs.
- Assist in developing job descriptions and postings.
- Guide candidates through the recruitment process and coordinate onboarding with HR.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and leverage recruitment data to inform strategy.
- Advocate for an inclusive culture, promoting equity and belonging.
- Execute an external sourcing plan to build diverse talent pools.
- Develop an understanding of workforce planning needs and talent roadmaps.
- Promote Aecon’s values to highlight workplace culture and advantages.
- Address diversity hiring needs and profile quality diverse talent.
- Ensure candidate data is captured in the ATS and use recruiting tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter and Indeed.
- Reduce agency spend by effectively recruiting passive, external candidates and through talent programs.
- Build and maintain brand awareness, industry contacts, and strategic partnerships.
- Engage with internal partners—including equity, diversity and inclusion—to review strategic hiring needs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years recruitment experience, with at least 3 years leading end‑to‑end recruitment efforts.
- Post‑secondary education in Human Resources or a business‑related area (asset).
- Exceptional organization and project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and influence ability.
- Proven relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.
- Passion and experience with diversity hiring initiatives.
- Collaborative self‑starter and creative problem solver.
- Experience with SAP (asset).
- Experience with sourcing tools such as Indeed and LinkedIn Recruiter.
- Experience working on hard‑to‑fill roles and high‑volume sourcing scenarios.
- Ability to operate independently to create recruitment pipelines.
- Proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
- Construction, infrastructure, engineering, or related industry experience.
- Agency experience (asset).
Work Model & Compensation
This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring approximately three days per week in the Etobicoke, ON office. The expected pay range is $85,000 - $95,000 per year, with individual pay based on location, education, experience, and job conditions.
