Reporting to the Manager, Business & Systems Analysis Chapter, the Business & Systems Consultant has deep knowledge of a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT and general insurance operations.
Key Responsibilities - Analyze and define user needs and translate them into requirements, epics, user stories and data mapping documents.
- Analyze and document how systems, processes, procedures, and clients will be impacted by future development focusing on links between processes and systems throughout the organization.
- Create and contribute to internal and external communications and user documentation.
- Collaborate, review and provide comments on business and technical documentation.
- Support business on the roll‑out of solutions with a focus on end‑to‑end validation.
- Develop and execute functional, integration, and user acceptance test cases; validate solutions against business requirements; support defect triage and resolution.
- Collaborate with Product Owner to refine, prioritize product backlog, clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and support sprint planning and backlog grooming.
- Take ownership of end‑to‑end solution delivery, proactively identify risks, remove blockers, and continuously improve team processes and delivery practices.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute wherever needed to analysis, testing, documentation, production support, and other team activities.
Minimum Qualifications - Demonstrated knowledge of business and/or technology platforms or ability to learn about technology and digital products.
- Experience with client‑facing technologies/digital engagement platforms.
- Curiosity and willingness to adopt emerging technologies.
- Knowledge of Design Thinking principles.
- Strong understanding of privacy, compliance, control, and security requirements.
- Skilled in test execution and understanding of outcomes.
- Strong communication skills, able to convey complex business and technical concepts clearly and simply.
- Ability to work and demonstrate cooperation in a matrixed team workplace.
- Experience with data and integration modeling.
- Excellent multi‑tasking, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous environments.
- Experience with Equisoft solutions, insurance illustration systems, or financial planning/illustration platforms is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of life insurance product configuration, illustration engines, and policy administration systems is an asset.
- Strong background in analyzing system data flows, procedural programming, and SQL for database querying and optimization.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience as a Business & Systems Analyst with both waterfall and agile methodologies.
- Experience working with external vendors is an asset.
Preferred Language
Skills - Fluency in both French and English (oral and written) is required for Quebec positions.
