Facilities Manager
3 Months Contract
East York- ONSITE
$40-$45 hourly
Responsibilities:
- Supervised and coordinated maintenance services, building repairs, equipment maintenance, grounds upkeep, and snow removal operations.
- Implemented and managed maintenance programs, contractor procurement, service schedules, and installations, ensuring all work was completed safely and efficiently.
- Managed operational budgets, monitored expenditures, and implemented corrective actions to maintain cost control.
- Supervised maintenance staff, including recruitment, payroll administration, workload planning, assignment delegation, scheduling, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions when required.
- Provided technical leadership and guidance to supervisors, skilled trades personnel, and semi-skilled workers.
- Developed, evaluated, and reviewed project plans, specifications, and criteria while assessing feasibility and operational impact.
- Managed and prioritized multiple maintenance and capital projects to meet organizational objectives and timelines.
- Fostered strong communication and collaborative relationships with staff, contractors, and customers to support service excellence.
Qualifications:
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, steam systems, compressed air systems, and other building mechanical systems.
- Diploma in Business, Engineering,
or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience supervising the operations and maintenance of commercial and institutional facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyze options, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Possess 5 to 7+ years of relevant facilities management and building operations experience.
- Extensive knowledge of indoor air quality monitoring equipment, data interpretation, HVAC systems, heating and air conditioning codes, design and construction standards, workplace hazards, safety procedures, and refrigerant handling and disposal requirements.
- Experience managing procurement processes, contract administration, vendor relationships, bids, quotations, and award procedures.
- Available to respond to after-hours emergencies and urgent operational issues.
- Solid understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal codes and regulations related to construction, installation, fire protection, health and safety, and sanitation.
