Purpose Tributary Public Risk (TPR) is a rapidly growing specialty Managing General Agent (MGA) and Lloyd’s of London's Coverholder focused exclusively on the Canadian public sector insurance market. TPR provides innovative insurance solutions to municipalities, Indigenous communities, public entities, educational institutions, non-profits and other public-sector organizations across Canada. The Commercial Lines

Underwriter is responsible for evaluating, selecting, pricing, and managing commercial insurance risks to support profitable growth while maintaining underwriting integrity and compliance with company guidelines. This role analyzes risk exposures, determines appropriate coverage terms and pricing, and collaborates with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to deliver responsive service and tailored insurance solutions that meet client needs while achieving organizational profitability and risk management objectives.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Intermediate/Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team and help shape the future of public sector insurance in Canada.

This is an ideal role for an ambitious underwriter who wants more than simply processing renewals.

You will work directly with senior leadership, brokers, insurer partners and Lloyd’s of London markets to evaluate complex risks, develop underwriting solutions and contribute to the growth of a specialist underwriting platform.

As a growing MGA, every team member has the opportunity to influence underwriting strategy, product development, workflow design and technology initiatives. This is a remote position – must reside and work in Canada.





Responsibilities Review and analyze commercial insurance submissions

Evaluate risks across multiple lines of business

Prepare quotations and underwriting recommendations

Review loss histories, exposure schedules and supporting documentation

Engage directly with brokers to obtain additional underwriting information

Assist with placement of complex risks with insurer and Lloyd's partners

Support delegated underwriting authority programs

Maintain underwriting files and documentation standards

Contribute to product development initiatives and underwriting guidelines

Participate in portfolio monitoring and underwriting reporting

Assist with implementation and continuous improvement of underwriting systems and technology

Support TPR's mission of delivering market-leading expertise to the Canadian public sector Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 3–7 years of commercial insurance underwriting or brokerage experience

CIP designation completed or in progress

Strong commercial property and casualty knowledge

Exceptional analytical and communication skills

Experience evaluating complex commercial risks

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Comfortable working in a quick-paced entrepreneurial environment

Not required, but is an asset:

MGA experience

Municipal or public-sector insurance experience

Construction, environmental or cyber experience

Experience working with Lloyd’s of London or specialty insurers
