Our 12 elementary schools, 4 grades 7 to 12 schools and an adult learning center enjoy a vibrant partnership with parents, parishes, staff and the community to help all of our students achieve their full potential and experience success.The Sudbury Catholic District School Board, a community recognized for innovation and a great northern lifestyle is centrally located in Northeastern Ontario, and is composed of a rich mix of urban, suburban, rural and wilderness environments.This assignment is being posted subsequent to Article 17.1.3 The Hiring of Occasional Teachers to Long Term Assignments found in the Central Terms of the Board’s collective agreements with OECTA. The end date is subject to change, however, this assignment will not extend beyond the end of the current school year.Essential QualificationsCurrent member in good standing with the Ontario College of TeachersQualifications in Primary and Junior DivisionsNative as a Second Language (NSL) qualification or equivalentKnowledge of the Ojiwbe languageKnowledge of current Ministry initiativesExcellent English language communication skills, both oral and writtenSound knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices,



including the use of diagnostic assessments to inform teaching and learningA commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learnerWorking knowledge of the IPRC process and the IEP, as they relate to planning and programmingKnowledge, experience and proven ability in utilizing differentiated instructional approaches within the classroom that support effective instruction and engage studentsAn ability to implement a shared vision consistent with the principles of Catholic Education and integrating the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations throughout classroom practiceA willingness to participate in the school’s ongoing literacy and numeracy initiativesProven ability to implement effective classroom management strategiesExcellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability and commitment to working with students, staff, and parentsExcellent time management and organizational skillsAbility to provide regular attendanceThe Sudbury Catholic District School Board is committed to building a diverse and qualified workforce which reflects and serves the needs of its students and its communities, and supports the mission, vision and values of the Board.
