Work with autonomy in your practice and collaborate with a high‑performing team of lawyers, adjusters, and legal support professionals – the best in the industry. Draft opinions, pleadings, affidavits and other legal documents to support applications,
mediations, judicial settlement conferences and trials. Assess claims with a focus on controlling indemnity but, at the same time, be pragmatic with a view to proactive and efficient resolution. Solid organization, communication and negotiation skills that will help you manage a busy practice, including working effectively with legal support staff including legal assistants, law clerks, and administrative support employees.
A member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Minimum of 5+ years of insurance litigation experience.
Experience in legal research and writing, including authorship of legal opinions.
Experience in drafting pleadings, conducting discoveries, mediations, application documents and pre‑hearing memoranda. Proficiency in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes. Trial experience, particularly independent trial experience, is a definite asset.
Proficiency in technologies, tools, and software programs to optimize operational efficiency and decision making, including but not limited to AI tools, iManage, ACL and the Microsoft Office package of programs.
