The salary range for this position is CAD $49.20/Hr. – CAD $63.47/Hr.
Come work as a Patient Care Coordinator/Educator with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Labour and Delivery team as a Patient Care Coordinator/Educator (RN) at Qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient care activities in a defined area of clinical expertise and provide leadership and guidance to designated staff.
- Facilitate efficient patient flow and patient access within and between units/programs/clinics.
- Act as a clinical resource for staff, supporting staff training and development and providing leadership and support to the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide educational services, including individual and group learning assessments and develop, implement and evaluate education programs and resources.
- Assist the Manager with administrative duties and coordinate staffing, scheduling and clinical research activities, ensuring optimal use of patient care resources.
- Promote education and research.
- Consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, the leadership team and other health care professionals to achieve excellence in patient and family‑centered care and enhance quality of life.

Powell River is located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia and offers outdoor recreation, cultural amenities and a supportive community.
Education & Experience
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Post‑basic specialty nursing certificate/program if applicable, and at least three (3) years of recent, related experience in the designated clinical area.
- One (1) year of related administrative/supervisory experience.
- One (1) year of related teaching experience and/or group facilitation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Knowledge of evidence‑informed nursing practice and broad knowledge of hospital policies, procedures and standards of care.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, supervision, work direction and consultation.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to interact effectively with clients, families, coworkers, physicians and external agencies.
- Ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and coach staff, patients and families; develop and deliver educational materials based on theory and best practices.
- Ability to promote a supportive and creative learning environment.
- Skill in establishing workload priorities, problem‑solving,
adjusting to unexpected events and managing conflict.
- Capacity to function effectively and efficiently in emergency situations and guide others to deliver quality patient care.
- Leadership in change management and support for staff through transitions.
- Knowledge of basic research principles and methods.
- Clinical technique proficiency and use of applicable equipment and supplies.
- Computer literacy to operate a client‑care information system and related software applications.
- CPR proficiency and physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Hours of work, including days off, may be subject to change according to operational requirements and the Collective Agreement.
