Job Information
Elizabeth Mackenzie Elementary School is seeking a Cook to provide nutritious meal services for approximately 200 students. Reporting to the Vice Principal, the Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving healthy meals and snacks while ensuring the school kitchen operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with food safety and nutrition standards, including the TCSA Healthy Foods for Learning Policy, Canada's Food Guide, and the GNWT Healthy Food for Learning Action Plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Assist with food purchasing, inventory control, and waste reduction.
- Support a safe, welcoming,
and efficient school food service program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 10 (including English and Mathematics); and
- Three (3) years of experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Required Certifications:
- Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
Equivalencies may include
- 2 years of experiences in a commercial cooking setting with grade 11
(English and Mathematics).
- 1 year of experiences in a commercial cooking setting with grade 12 completed
- All other equivalencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Working Conditions
This position is based in a commercial school kitchen and requires standing for extended periods, frequent lifting of up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), and the safe operation of commercial kitchen equipment. The Cook works primarily early daytime shifts during the school year and must follow established food safety and occupational health and safety practices.
