Actuarial P&C Manager – Risk Modelling Services A career in our Risk Modelling Services (RMS) team as a Property & Casualty Actuary will provide you with the opportunity to contribute risk modeling and general insurance advice and consulting services to insurance companies, reinsurance companies, and government agencies, as well as audit support for various insurance entities. You will work directly with our experienced actuaries and other actuarial associates on projects including reserving, pricing, solvency and capital management, economic capital, financial condition testing, and the impact of new laws and regulations. You will also have the chance to provide oversight on risk modeling for emerging risks such as climate and cyber, and help develop tools and models that leverage machine learning and advanced finance analytics. Managing a broad range of actuarial consulting services and transformation initiatives, you will work closely with Senior Actuaries on services including actuarial liability valuation and financial condition testing, product development, mergers & acquisitions, advisory services, and insurance accounting standards (IFRS 17), support accounting teams with financial risk issues, manage actuarial reviews and analyze client information to evaluate fairness of actuarial liabilities in the financial statements, seek business development opportunities, support engagement delivery and collaborate with actuaries and other actuarial students on cross‑functional projects. You will present findings to non‑actuarial teams clearly and participate in development of proposals, industry presentations, marketing materials, and maintain communication with PwC clients.
You will coach actuarial staff in technical and professional development and foster relationships with clients. Manage a broad range of actuarial consulting services and transformation initiatives. Work closely with Senior Actuaries on actuarial liability valuation, financial condition testing, product development, mergers & acquisitions, advisory services and insurance accounting standards (IFRS 17). Support accounting teams to identify and review financial risk issues related to actuarial aspects of the audit. Manage actuarial reviews and analyze client information to conclude whether the actuarial liabilities are fairly presented in the financial statements. Seek business development opportunities. Support engagement delivery. Collaborate with actuaries and other actuarial students on cross‑functional projects within PwC. Present findings and recommendations to non‑actuarial teams in a clear, non‑technical manner. Participate in business development activities such as service proposals, quotes, industry presentations, marketing material, and foster valuable communication with PwC clients to support relationship building. Coach actuaries in their technical and professional career development. Significant experience as a P&C actuary, including experience with climate risk modeling.
Fellow or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and Canadian Institute of Actuaries. Hands‑on policy liability valuation, financial condition testing, IFRS 17, pricing, or predictive modeling experience. Exceptional commitment to providing excellent client service, building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients. Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and multitasking/project management skills. Proficiency in reserving or statistical applications such as Arius, R, Python, and @Risk. Proven ability working with data analytic tools (Tableau, Alteryx, VBA) – considered an asset. Continuous improvement mindset; challenges the status quo and seeks self‑improvement. Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting in a business context. Prior experience within a consulting or advisory role (or capable to work in consulting/audit environments and project‑based work) – considered an asset. Fluency in French (required for a Quebec based opportunity; outside of Quebec, a French asset). Salary Range – $112,400 – $162,400. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
