Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) for electronic systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Conduct circuit simulations using software tools to analyze and optimize circuit performance, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
- Design wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for electrical systems, considering factors such as signal integrity, thermal management, and EMC/EMI compliance.
- Develop system architectures and integrate electrical components into larger systems, considering overall functionality, performance, and safety requirements.
- Lead electrical engineering projects from concept to completion. Support the project management office in developing work breakdown structures.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, and product designers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other components.
- Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Develop test plans and procedures, conduct testing,
and perform validation to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical systems.
- Establish design criteria for projects using required codes and standards.
- Participate in the design review process.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables.
- Work with the Production department to provide technical assistance during the manufacturing process.
- Work with customers to understand project requirements and provide operational support while in the field.
- Mentor Electrical Engineers and Technologists.
Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering discipline with 8+ years of experience.
- Excellent design standards and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Effectively focus on high level project objectives while executing detailed design tasks.
- Demonstrated technical skills along with a proven track record for success.
- Experience in the design specification, installation and connection methods of electrical equipment.
- Design and review PCB Fab drawings, PCB Assembly drawings and provide input into new product designs.
- Strong written and oral communication skills (technical reporting).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment.
- High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
- Experience with Altium.
- Experience with Zuken E3.
- Experience with Sonar systems especially in an ocean setting.
- Experience with LabVIEW.
- Experience with high voltages.
- Experience with ABB motors and drives.
- Experience with embedded controllers.
