Must be willing to work varied hours: day, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.Other Travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes in accordance with job requirements and work locations may vary.This posting is for an existing, currently open position within Community Services.Job DescriptionSpecific to this role:General DutiesAssist with regular inspections of properties; patrol and monitor for vandalism; perform garbage collection, litter picking and maintenance of amenitiesOperate various equipment and machinery related to maintenance functions in accordance with applicable legislation, policies and proceduresPerform winter snow and ice control functions, as requestedDuties Specific To CemeteriesResponsible for grass cutting and grounds maintenance of cemetery properties, including planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and flowerbedsPrepare burial sites in accordance with applicable legislation; tailor grounds for individual and decoration day servicesLiaise directly with families and funeral directors to perform interment servicesDuties Specific To TrailsResponsible for maintenance of trails,
including performing routine maintenance tasks including general repairs to trails, trail heads, roads, bridges, buildings and other facilitiesAs a Member Of The Operational TeamAdminister defined procedures and recommend solutions to challenges or process improvementsWork collaboratively with others to deliver the outcomes as defined; report any challenges to the supervisorRespond to customer service concerns; participating in problem solving and providing information to supervisor, as appropriateKeep daily time sheets for supervisor review and approvalFollow prescribed health and safety procedures including wearing personal protective equipmentMaintain documentation, databases and corporate records in accordance with policy and divisional practice; consider legislative municipal requirements such as the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)Provide data or input on processes to allow reporting and decision makingPerform other related duties as assignedQualificationsSecondary school diplomaDemonstrated experience in grounds maintenance with emphasis in horticulture, landscape construction, cemetery and/or trails maintenanceDemonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
