Office Location: Fort St John or Victoria

Salary: $119,211 - $156,045 – Permanent Full-Time, based on a 35-hour work week.

An additional 3% Location Allowance will be added to posted salary for northern location.

About the Job

The Director, Orphan Restoration (Director) provides strategic leadership in liability management, overseeing and mitigating financial and environmental risks associated with inactive oil and gas infrastructure, insolvencies, and orphan oil and gas sites. This role leads the enhancement, delivery, and continuous improvement of the BCER’s Orphan Treatment and Closure Plan.

Leading a team of professional and technical experts, the Director ensures the organization effectively identifies, tracks, and mitigates risks associated with operator insolvency, ensuring a strategic approach to restoration and mitigation of the cumulative impacts of industrial disturbances. The Director works closely with other regulators, industry practitioners, First Nations partners, and stakeholders to develop and share best-practices, enhance policies and procedures, and ensure effective reporting and decision making.

The Director collaborates with the Finance department to ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting related to liabilities.
