Associate Manager, Facilities & Maintenance As the Associate Manager, Facilities & Maintenance you will organize, prioritise and coordinate both short‑term and long‑term maintenance activities across manufacturing, utilities operations, and overall site facilities services, including equipment, buildings and grounds. Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Take all actions necessary for the adequate control and/or elimination of hazards in the workplace, including detailed investigations for all safety incidents, including near misses. Provide support, direction, coaching and training to the teams for all health and safety issues (SHERAs, workplace hazards, OPLs, etc). Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory health and safety requirements. Facilitate and participate in health and safety training on all new and existing programs as required. Assume role of Incident Commander during emergencies, including ERT responsibilities, completion of site reporting in Entropy, other required documentation and continued investigative procedures. Lead and reinforce safe work practices within teams, including Good Manufacturing Practices, 5S and Process Safety Management System (PSM). Partake in weekly review of safety incidents and execution of CAPAs assigned from reviews. Drive execution of the 5S strategy in all maintenance areas, facilities and administration. Ensure contractors are adequately trained and adhere to company policies and procedures in the completion of work on site. Quality Ensure team follows Positive Manufacturing Practices as directed. Provide adequate training, education and awareness to maintain quality systems and maximise percent conformance. Follow up immediately on product notifications, expanded audits, and close‑out notifications in SAP. Initiate Corrective Action Reports, Off‑Standard actions, etc. Maintain adequate maintenance plans to ensure delivery of consistent quality results on the production floor and facility equipment operation. Environmental Drive a proactive environmental program, monitoring aspects and impacts and improving initiatives. Participate and support ISO audits and ensure identified issues are resolved promptly. Technical Diagnose and assess technical issues; engage necessary resources to correct problems and participate actively in problem‑solving protocols. Drive effective execution of overall maintenance planning and scheduling, ensuring timely availability of resources (spares, manpower, tools). Review maintenance plans periodically to ensure effectiveness and suitability for current strategy.



Ensure revision and updating of “Maintenance Technical Documentation” as necessary. Liaise with contractors to ensure maintenance activities on all equipment are completed on time and to required standards. Document breakdowns and perform analysis to prevent recurrence on production machinery. Liaise with stockroom purchaser to ensure all required spares are ordered on time. Maintain buildings and grounds through staff assignments and outside service contracts to provide suitable work environments for all employees. Co‑ordinate and maintain overall plant security and housekeeping to protect assets at minimum expense. Manage steam, power, heat, building occupancy budgets, and programs to achieve maximum service at minimum expense. Collaborate across the site to maintain customer accountability and services associated with the admin centre and company store. Team Development Foster, develop and grow teams through effective goal setting, sensitivity to dynamics and identification of training gaps. Provide direction and coaching to achieve or exceed business objectives such as productivity, quality, safety, environment and customer service. Drive adherence to weekly schedule for trades, ensuring effective execution of scheduled work. Inspire the team to stretch their thinking and move boundaries, delegating empowerment based on readiness. Work with production teams to nurture a One Team, One Purpose strategy. Establish and maintain training protocols to build competency and reduce knowledge gaps. Business and Financial Strategies Collaboratively execute and drive budget planning, examine and execute cost‑saving initiatives to drive results. Additional Responsibilities Coordinate all maintenance activities for work teams normally consisting of 12–25 tradespeople (millwrights, electricians, plumbers) and 1–3 maintenance planners. Support facilities in day‑to‑day project execution and personnel management. Responsible for employee and team recognition, coaching, discipline, personal objective setting and performance management; participate in selection as required. Ensure shift‑to‑shift communication aligns on priority, safety, hazard awareness and overall site awareness.



Keep operations manager abreast of departmental technical/people issues. Work with the Manufacturing Operations Manager to develop and execute a long‑term maintenance strategy aligned with corporate objectives. Collaborate with support functions (engineering, quality, material handling) to direct technical resources for equipment maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure accurate time and attendance management to impact payroll. Develop a database for tracking spares consumption and maintain availability to reduce downtime. Support approval of level‑1 purchase orders for stockroom and maintenance purchases. Facilitate and manage organizational improvement initiatives at the team level (Lean activities, etc.). Collaborate with facilities lead to solicit and maintain cost‑effective contractor agreements and services. Required Experience University degree required. 5+ years manufacturing supervisory experience (packaged goods industry a plus). Competent understanding of mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues. Thorough knowledge of a variety of maintenance strategies (condition‑based, time‑based, predictive, etc.). Valuable knowledge of SAP functions required. Experience in facilities management. Working knowledge of the OH&S Act and regulations for industrial establishments. Preferred Experiences and Skills Sound understanding and utilisation of maintenance shop equipment and tools. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills. Joint Health and Safety Committee experience as a management lead. Job Requirements Work performed in an office‑based setting with frequent, daily exposure to the manufacturing environment. All work performed in‑house, with limited travel required. Compensation & Benefits The company offers a total rewards package at or above industry levels. Base salary range: CAD 101,829 – 127,286.
