Job Overview GFL Environmental is seeking an Environmental/Project Coordinator based in Nova Scotia to support operations across Atlantic Canada. The role reports to the Director of Landfill Operations and Environmental Compliance – Atlantic Canada.

Key Responsibilities - Conduct environmental inspections and monitoring at GFL facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Collect soil, leachate, surface water, and groundwater samples in line with industry practices.
- Establish, monitor, and track environmental performance indicators.
- Increase effectiveness of GFL’s Environmental Best Management Practices and awareness of GFL’s Site Operational Plans.
- Collaborate with GFL staff on environmental issues and liaise with consultants, contractors, regulatory inspectors, and site personnel.
- Prepare and review comprehensive environmental reports and summarize the information for review.
- Support General Managers with emergency response related to environmental incidents.
- Assist in the development of environmental key performance indicators and manage the uploading/maintenance of the environmental management system.
- Assist with planning and implementation of infrastructure improvements and capital investment projects.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Degree or diploma in science or engineering from a recognized university or college.

- 3–5 years of experience in a similar position (preferred).
- Experience collaborating with regulators.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.




- Experience with environmental monitoring and reporting.
- Professional attitude; punctual, assertive, personable, and ethical.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking; ability to multi‑task and self‑initiate.
- High level of sound, independent judgment and reasoning.
- Capacity to respond calmly under pressure with a high sense of urgency.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database management systems.
- Valid driver’s license with current insurance acceptable under company policy.
- Flexibility to travel across Atlantic Canada as needed.

Additional Information

This is a hybrid role with both office and home‑office work environments. Working days are Monday through Friday, with hours adjusted to meet business demands.
