Holland Homes & Renovations is a boutique builder serving Ottawa and the National Capital Region. We build custom homes, additions, secondary dwellings and coach houses, and full kitchen, bath and basement renovations. We also handle our own drafting and 3D modelling in-house. Over a decade in, our reputation for craftsmanship, detailed quoting and straight communication is what keeps our schedule full.

The role

We're hiring an Estimator / Project Coordinator to own projects from first drawing through final walkthrough. You'll draw it, price it, then run it — so the numbers you commit to are the numbers you deliver.

You coordinate trades, suppliers, schedules and clients, and you stay close to the actual building.

What you'll do

- Prepare drawings in Chief Architect — floor plans, elevations, sections, construction details and 3D models for client presentations and permit sets
- Update drawings as designs evolve and keep drawing sets current through construction
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed, line-item estimates for renovations, additions and custom builds
- Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier quotes; negotiate pricing and scope
- Build and maintain project budgets, track costs against estimate, and flag variances early
- Prepare and manage change orders — scope, price, approval, documentation
- Build and maintain project schedules; coordinate trade sequencing and material deliveries
- Run site visits and progress meetings; keep quality and safety standards on point
- Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners — set expectations, communicate changes, keep people informed
- Support permit and inspection coordination
- Close out projects: deficiency lists, warranty documentation, final reconciliation

- Claude (AI) — we use AI in our daily workflow to speed up estimating, document prep and admin. You don't need prior experience, but you do need to be open to working this way

What you bring
- 3–7 years of experience in residential construction estimating, project coordination, drafting, or a combination
- Direct experience with custom homes, additions or secondary dwelling units — not just cosmetic renovation work
- Proficiency in Chief Architect (or strong CAD/BIM experience with the ability to get up to speed on it quickly)
- Ability to produce permit-ready drawing sets and read/interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Solid understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing and costs — ideally in renovation work, where surprises are the norm
- Strong Excel skills and comfort learning new software quickly
- Ontario Building Code familiarity and working knowledge of permit processes in Ottawa/NCR
- Excellent communication skills — you'll be talking to homeowners in their own house, often while it's torn apart
- Organized, self-directed, and able to juggle multiple active projects
- Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- Post-secondary education in architectural technology, construction management, civil engineering technology, or equivalent hands-on experience

- Experience preparing permit applications for the City of Ottawa

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
