Social Experience

Guide AAFS is seeking passionate, dependable, and proactive individuals to join our team as Social Experience Guides. This role is ideal for someone who is energized by building meaningful connections, supporting neurodivergent community members, and helping create safe, engaging social experiences. We are looking for team members who are self-starters, robust problem-solvers, reliable, critical thinkers, and confident in supporting and managing behaviours with patience, empathy, and professionalism.

Position Overview As a Social Experience Guide, you will help facilitate social and recreational programs for youth and adults in programs such as LAAFS, Adult, and Summer programs. You will play an important role in creating welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environments where participants can build confidence, relationships, and life skills. What You’ll Be Doing Facilitate social and recreational activities across AAFS programs Create safe, inclusive spaces for social exploration and relationship building Support participants in developing social thinking, emotional regulation, and life skills Contribute to program planning, preparation, and development Respond thoughtfully and effectively to behaviours and changing participant needs Work collaboratively with team members while also taking initiative independently Bring energy, flexibility,



and a genuine sense of fun to each program What Makes You a Strong Candidate Personal or professional experience with neurodiversity; lived experience is highly valued Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for inclusive community-building Ability to adapt communication styles to meet a range of needs Confidence in behaviour support, problem-solving, and making sound decisions in the moment Reliable, mature, and able to take initiative without constant direction Commitment to ongoing learning, reflection, and growth Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills What We Value Diverse perspectives and lived experiences Creative and practical problem-solving Authentic relationship-building Understanding and respect for neurodivergent experiences Unconditional acceptance, inclusivity, and respect for our members, staff, and workplace Benefits Competitive compensation Supportive team workplace Professional development opportunities Meaningful work with real community impact Flexible scheduling options Location Calgary, Alberta South Clubhouse: 8228 MacLeod Trail SE, Unit 220 Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence with a clean driving record Preference given to candidates with 3 years of uninterrupted vehicle insurance and no at-fault accidents Preference will be given to those currently enrolled in a human services course or disability program, or have equivalent relevant experience Equivalent experience may include parenting, caregiving, mentoring, community support, disability support, recreation, education, or other roles involving relationship-building and behaviour support Able to provide a clean Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and a clear Intervention Record Check All offers of employment are contingent upon submission of both required checks
