Position Overview
Our Elkford Finning facility is looking for a Field Operations Manager who has previous experience successfully managing teams in a shop and/or a field environment.
The Field Operations
Manager is responsible for managing all field customer interactions and communications in conjunction with effectively managing and scheduling service work and resources to meet customer expectations for equipment service and maintenance and accountable for overseeing the end-to-end service process including time entry for field operations. The expected pay range for this position is between 125-145K. Actual salary will be based on the successful candidate’s experience.
This position is located on the customer site in Elkford on a Monday – Friday (5x2) shift schedule.
Safety leadership – lead, demonstrate and champion a healthy and safe work environment ensuring that all safety standards, policies, procedures and compliance requirements are communicated, implemented and followed
People Leadership – responsible for the day-to-day leadership of staff, including recruitment, orientation, coaching, mentoring, employee engagement, and performance feedback and supporting growth and development opportunities.
Result Management – responsible for reviewing results daily, weekly and monthly with direct report including managing SWIP
Velocity Management – responsible for bridging customer interaction with repair execution by working with the field service supervisor(s) for scheduling priories in field and dispatching

Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory skills
Strong decision making and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills to engage, motive and lead employees
Ability to understand and interpret associated KPIs related to branch profitability
Proven relationship management skills with a strong customer focus
Knowledge
Strong understanding of the Caterpillar product line and Caterpillar processes (goodwill, product health and structure, etc.)
Solid understanding of the National Safety Code (NSC)
Strong understanding of CAT and non-Cat warranties
Understanding of the collective agreement, performance management and disciplinary processes and the principles of high performance leadership
Strong understanding of business acumen and financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
Experience
Previous experience with CAT 797 Haul Trucks
Previous shop and field experience
Previous experience with maintenance and repair contracts would be considered a benefit
Accountability
Accountable for ensuring the training of employees and check regularly to ensure they are using equipment properly and following safe work procedures
Accountable to understand the OH&S; requirements for their worksite as well as apply the Finning (Canada) Health and Safety management system to aid in meeting these requirements
Accountable for managing service trucks, NSC compliance and tooling for the field operations
Accountable for developing, maintaining and fostering a healthy relationship with the union and unionized employees
Accountable to ensure work orders are closed and invoiced at a timely manner
