The Corporate
Controller is a senior leadership hire and a critical partner to the CFO. This role owns the financial integrity of the business: the accounting infrastructure, the close process, the control environment, and the compliance posture across a dynamic, multi‑entity, multi‑national organization. You’ll run the function with the discipline of a company preparing for a major liquidity event, while building at the pace and prioritization that a scaling business actually requires.
Trulioo is at a stage where the accounting function needs to keep pace with strategic ambition. This will be a full‑time, permanent position working out of the Vancouver office on a hybrid model (3 days per week in the office).
Accounting
Operations and Close
General Accounting and Close Process: You’ll own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close: accurate, on‑time, and improving in efficiency over time. GL management, journal entries, reconciliations, and the full range of technical GAAP accounting that a sophisticated, pre‑IPO business requires are foundational to this role.
You’ll also own the technical accounting policies that govern how the business handles complex areas — equity compensation, capitalized development costs, lease obligations, and others that will evolve as the business grows — and enforce their consistent application across the organization.
Beyond the policies themselves, you’ll shape the systems and process infrastructure that makes compliance repeatable and scalable.
Accounts
Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Billing: You’ll oversee AR, AP, and billing with a clear view to cash cycle performance. DSO, DPO, and billing accuracy are metrics you track, report on, and manage against. You understand that these functions directly affect liquidity and working capital, and you run them accordingly.
Payroll and Treasury: You’ll own payroll operations across jurisdictions, coordinating with HR to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. On the treasury side, you’ll maintain cash visibility, support cash forecasting in close partnership with FP&A;, and manage banking relationships and operational cash management.
Tax: You’ll oversee global tax compliance across the jurisdictions Trulioo operates in, working with external advisors as necessary. You’ll stay ahead of obligations, minimize risk exposure, and build the internal capability needed as the business continues to expand its geographic footprint. Multi‑Entity and International Operations
Trulioo operates through a multi‑entity corporate structure across multiple countries. You’ll manage the intercompany framework, ensure consolidations are clean and well‑controlled, and keep the legal entity structure properly maintained from an accounting and compliance standpoint. You’ll own the transfer pricing framework, working with tax advisors to ensure Trulioo’s intercompany arrangements are properly documented, defensible, and aligned with evolving international standards.
Control
Environment and Audit Readiness
Internal Controls and Compliance: You’ll design and maintain a controls environment that is proportionate to the risk and complexity of the business today, and scalable to the expectations of a public company. You’ll identify gaps, close them methodically, and build a roadmap that gets the organization audit‑ready for a potential liquidity event on a five‑year horizon.
External Audit: You’ll own the external audit relationship: managing the process, coordinating deliverables, and ensuring the audit is completed accurately and efficiently. You’ll position the business to move from reviewed to audited financials if that transition is required, and eventually to the standard a public company demands. Variance analysis is only as good as the accounting underneath it. you’re here to help improve it.
You’ll track the operational and efficiency metrics that reflect accounting function performance, surface cash cycle insights that inform business decisions, and engage with commercial and operational leaders as a credible financial voice.
M&A; Accounting and Integration: You’ll support corporate development activity with accounting diligence, purchase price allocation, and post‑acquisition integration.
Audit Committee and Executive Communication: You’ll own the Corporate Controller’s relationship with the audit committee: preparing materials, presenting financial results and control setting updates, and fielding questions from a sophisticated board audience. You’ll translate complex accounting positions, audit findings,
and policy changes into clear, well‑structured narratives that give the committee the context they need to govern effectively. Building the Function
AI‑First Accounting Function: You’ll actively apply AI tools to accounting workflows: automating reconciliations, accelerating close, improving accuracy in high‑volume processes, and reducing manual work across the team.
Data Architecture and Systems: You’ll own the data and systems layer that makes the accounting function analytically useful, not just compliant. That means a chart of accounts structured with intentionality: clean enough to close fast, and logical enough to support product‑level and segment‑level profitability analysis. You’ll ensure transactional data flows are accurate, well‑governed, and organized in ways that let FP&A;, Rev Ops, and business leaders slice performance by the dimensions that matter.
You’ll lead a talented accounting team with high standards and a genuine investment in their development. CPA designation and 15+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, with meaningful time in high‑growth technology businesses. Deep experience with multi‑entity, multi‑national accounting structures, including intercompany, consolidation, and transfer pricing.
Demonstrated ability to build and scale a controls environment with public‑company readiness as a long‑term objective. Track record of running a tight, high‑quality close process and managing accounting operations across AR, AP, billing, payroll, tax, and treasury. Hands‑on experience with M&A; accounting, including diligence support, purchase price allocation, and post‑acquisition integration.
Genuine, demonstrated use of AI and automation tools in accounting workflows.
Strong data and systems literacy: you design chart of accounts structures with an analytical purpose, govern transactional data with precision, and build the accounting layer to support product and segment profitability reporting across a multi‑dimensional business.
Strong operational instincts: you manage by metrics, track cash cycle performance, and treat accounting as a function that directly supports business outcomes.
Ability to partner effectively with FP&A;: you understand how the accounting function feeds planning and analysis, and you optimize for that relationship.
Experience with growth equity‑backed companies and familiarity with the reporting and compliance expectations that come with sophisticated investors. Clear, direct communicator who can translate accounting complexity into plain language for business stakeholders and the CFO. A builder with the judgment to pace infrastructure investments appropriately: rigorous about what needs to be done now and practical about what can be sequenced.
The Corporate
Controller will have direct partnership with the CFO, ownership of a consequential function, and the mandate to build an accounting operation that reflects where this company is going, not just where it has been.
