Front of House Assistant Manager (Granville Island)

We are looking for a enthusiastic Front of House Assistant Manager to lead our shop on Vancouver's iconic Granville Island. Opening late Fall 2026!

Job Summary: The primary objective of the Front of House Assistant Manager is to support the Front of House Manager in overseeing the operations of a new shop on Granville Island. You help accomplish the business’ goals by developing and motivating a team in which each person is supported to do their best work and care for one another. You work with the FOH Manager and senior leadership team to set and achieve targets. You and your team provide outstanding service, build sales and drive productivity.

The Assistant

Manager is also responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the shop in the absence of the FOH Manager.

Duties:

- Learn about and share our unique company history. Provide and model exceptional guest experiences highlighting our local partnerships and ingredient sourcing.
- Assist in recruiting, training and overseeing the development of new team members and Shift Leaders.
- Manage seasonal inventory while monitoring quality control.
- Operational and administrative duties to support a busy shop.
- Ensure the department adheres to Foodsafe and Occupational Health & Safety standards as required by Worksafe BC.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Participate in management meetings; contributing to our collaborative, round-table management culture

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Managing a seasonally-fluctuating team of approximately 20-45 team members, including 6-11 Shift Leaders. Seasonal hiring and training responsibilities, with the FOH Manager.

Working Conditions:

- Minimum 32 hours per week
- Available evenings and weekends
- In an average week, this role will be 20% administrative on a computer, and 80% in-person meetings and tasks on the floor, but also includes:




- Full-day floor coverage
- Full-day training on floor

- Exposure to cold temperatures (with personal protective equipment) in walk-in freezers.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

- Ability to quickly analyze, identify, and address issues or inefficiencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a passion to motivate and drive teams with a hands-on approach.
- Ability to engage in repetitive tasks, specifically in the wrist.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Forecasting and inventory management skills.

Required Training and Experience:
- 2+ years experience in supervising teams or as an equivalent collaborative individual contributor
- Experience working in a quick-paced, high volume environment, preferably hospitality or retail service.

- Starting wage for this position is $24.40/hr and competitive compensation is offered based on qualifications and experience.
