Discovery Genomics Ltd. (DGL) is an early-stage biotech company pioneering the use of genomics-based technology for mineral exploration and mining. We are building out our lab and commercial offerings as we scale active R&D; programs, including partnerships with major industry players.

About the Role

We are looking for a versatile Lab Technician to support our growing lab operations. This is a hands-on role that blends benchtop lab work with administrative coordination, ideal for someone who is organized and detail oriented. The successful applicant will report to the CEO directly.

Responsibilities

- Perform benchtop lab work, including sample processing (soil and water), DNA extraction, DNA QA/QC, and reporting on internal quality metrics
- Manage lab supply ordering and logistics: track inventory, manage vendors, place and follow up on orders, and facilitate shipping where required
- Monitor and triage lab-related email correspondence
- Maintain accurate records of lab procedures and incoming materials with associated data (LIMS)




- Support general lab administration and organization
- Help maintain lab equipment and troubleshoot basic issues
- Occasional field sampling trips may be available depending on interest and project needs

Qualifications

- Undergraduate degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related life science field (preferred); geology or earth science degrees also considered
- Prior lab experience (academic or industry) and familiarity with standard lab practices and basic molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, etc.) is not explicitly required, but preferred
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple ongoing tasks
- Clear written communication for email correspondence and vendor coordination
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of day-to-day lab operations
- Prior experience with bioinformatics tools and general data analytics is an asset
