- Wage Range: $ - $ per hour (start rate is non‑negotiable)
- Hours: hours per week
- Shifts: Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays 12 hour shifts
- Status: Temporary Full‑Time (1 year contract)
- Closing Date: May 28, 2026

Position Summary

The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre has 12 site groups and 26 specialty clinics, and almost 3,000 staff who see over 400,000 patient visits every year.

Its 800,000 square feet house 130 inpatient beds, 373,000 square feet of research space and 17 radiation treatment machines, making it one of the largest comprehensive cancer treatment facilities in the world and the largest radiation treatment centre in Canada.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation and standards,



the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. 15A Leukemia unit is a 17 bed nursing unit with skilled oncology nurses working in a team model approach caring for newly diagnosed Leukemia patients. The team members are able to build therapeutic relationships with patients and families during their length of stay which averages about 1 month.

The unit has a dedicated Advanced Practice Nurse Educator and Patient Care Coordinator shared within the Leukemia program to support nursing and the multidisciplinary team members. There are educational opportunities available for all staff to enhance their knowledge and skill.

The successful candidate will bring a commitment to Primary Nursing Care as the care delivery model.

Duties

- Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Qualified Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN
- Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure
- Demonstrating commitment to professional lifelong learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession
- Performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care




- Performing cross‑functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/or requested

Qualifications

- Completion of a university, college, or other approved nursing program required
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Chemotherapy administration certification
- Experience in the care of the client with oncologic disorders required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Evidence of cooperative and facilitative relationships when working with interdisciplinary direct care team
- Evidence of commitment to team building and working within a patient focused care model
- Ability to function entirely independently
- Strong crisis intervention/problem solving skills
- Evidence of strong physical assessment and the ability to predict changes in patient status
- Evidence of effective psychosocial, and patient/family teaching skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care
- Evidence of commitment to self‑directed learning
- Recent hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
