The ideal candidate is a warm and loving person who makes meaningful connections with those they are caring for.The Programs Managerreports to the Executive Director and is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing innovative programs, activities, and self-directed resources based on established standards, policies, and procedures, which will enrich or maintain the lifestyle of residents and promote the overall delivery of well-being.Wage Rate:The starting annual salary is $65,000Vacancy:This is an existing vacancy.Responsibilities:Recruitment/ retention and performance management of Programs staff and volunteersOrientation and ongoing training and development of Programs staff and volunteersModeling of emotion-based person-centered care living philosophyAdheres to human resources policies when recruiting and hiring new employees.Monitors payroll activities to ensure that wage grids, benefits, statutory holidays, vacations, lieu days are applied as per the collective agreementsMonitors performance of programs staff, students, volunteersEnsures the Programs department is operating in compliance with the regulations within the Fixing Long Term Care Act 2021 and responds to any citation identified by the Ministry of Long-Term CareDevelops and maintains departmental annual operating budgetEnsures appropriate staffing patterns, effective utilization of staff and materials managementAssists in the coordination of the Continuous Quality Improvement program and follows the Residents First Initiatives with Health Quality OntarioAssists with the evaluation of all resident programs and services for relevance, quality,



and effectivenessParticipates in and implements learning which develops one’s own emotional self-awareness and a person centered approach towards othersSupports families, friends and supporters of people experiencing dementia, balancing this with the promotion of a person centered approach to individualsUnderstands the nature and meaning of quality indicatorsOther duties as assigned and or indicated in Job Task InventoryQualifications:The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:Must have at least one year of experience in a health care setting or relevant field and,(i) a post-secondary diploma, degree or certificate in recreation and leisure studies, gerontology, kinesiology, therapeutic recreation, gerontology or other related field from an Ontario post-secondary institution, or(ii) a post-secondary diploma, degree or certificate granted in another jurisdiction that, in the reasonable opinion of the licensee, is equivalent to the diploma, degree or certificate described in subclause (i).Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, creativity and high motivation are a must.Knowledge of community resources and program development is an asset.Knowledge of computers and associated applications are required.CPR and First Aid qualificationsTo show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing how to turn a task into positive social interaction.To undertake and meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and measuring/reducing elements of risk.Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain oneAs a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirementsTwo supervisory references requiredProvide proof of all required vaccines.
