Transportation and Utilities is looking for afull-timepermanentHeavy Equipment Operator for our Operations Programs team to workprimarily on our Paving and Patching Crewin the summer months and Urban snow removal in winter. The successful candidate will have the capability tooperatevarious pieces of heavy equipment such as grader, paver, gravel truck, loader,snowblowerand bobcat. The position may berequiredto perform general labour duties as needed.Previousexperience in asphalt patching is preferred.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

- Operating various pieces of heavy equipment in a safe andappropriate manner.
- Clean,maintainand secure all equipment as directed by legislation,policiesand procedures.
- Operate loader and backhoe to load trucks.
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
- Participate in safety meetings.
- Deal with members of the public in a courteous, respectful manner.
- Provide labour or other related duties as assigned.
- Operators have a responsibility to promote andparticipatein the County’s health and safety program, follow safe workproceduresandcomply withOccupational Health and Safety legislation.

Qualifications

- Class 5 Driver's License and clean abstract
- Class 1 driver’s license is an asset; Class 1 driver’s licenserequiredtooperatesome equipment
- Experience in asphalt patching preferred
- Experience towing a trailer
- Willingness and ability to work long hours including weekends whenrequired
- Ability to interact with members of the public and coworkers effectively and courteously
- Physical ability to perform labour duties
- Ability to use hand/power tools
- Ability to dobasic maintenance on equipment would be an asset




- Experience with Microsoft 365 and an ability to use computers

Work Schedule

This position works Monday to Friday 7:00am – 4:30pm for 44 hours per week with some occasional weekends/overtime to meet operational needs.

Hourly Pay

$36.48 – $42.92.
