As a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer , you will contribute your technical leadership to impactful, multidisciplinary projects that support safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mining, metals and industrial infrastructure systems. You’ll guide design, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver solutions that help communities and industries thrive. This position will be located in our Sudbury Ontario office.

At WSP, our Resources subsector plays a vital role within our Energy, Resources & Industry (ERI) sector , delivering end-to-end solutions for clients across Canada. For decades, we’ve provided expertise ranging from economic studies and detailed engineering to procurement, commissioning, site management, and mine closure. Lead mechanical HVAC engineering design packages from concept development through detailed engineering, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project goals.

Develop mechanical HVAC systems, specifications, calculations, and deliverables that support safe, reliable, and high-performing operations for mining, metals, heavy industrial clients. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical design with process, structural, electrical, controls, and construction requirements. Review designs, drawings, and engineering documents to ensure quality, constructability, and adherence to industry codes and best practices.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers, supporting team growth and capability development. Engage directly with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance project delivery.

University





Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related. At least 15+years of mechanical engineering experience in mining and heavy industrial projects.

Experience in flue gas, dust collection and ventilation ducting an asset. You bring proven experience solving real‑world engineering challenges, from equipment specification to system design and integration. You’re comfortable working in the field or onsite as needed and adhere to all safety requirements.
