We are currently looking for a full time caregiver. Shifts are: 7am to 3pm, 12pm to 8pm and 1pm to 9pm. There are overnight shifts Occasionally. Although we do provide training, we encourage experience with pediatric in-home care, experience with care for complex needs and a willingness to learn our son's very specific set of needs.
This is absolutely not a babysitting job and requires an invested individual who understands the importance of their role in the family setting and for our son.
Handysides Family is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Caregiver to join our team and provide care to our son. Our son has Dystonic Cerebral Palsy. He is a very happy guy most of the time and loves people. He is non-verbal and is learning to communicate with an eye-gaze system. He participates in a home school program and continues to progress. He loves getting out for adventures too. Hours of work are between 7am and 9pm (can be as late as 11pm for special occasions or events).
The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others , be committed and reliable. The ideal candidate will also have good communication skills, be able to follow instructions and be a reliable person who can work well in a team environment although shifts will be primarily independent with occasional overlaps with other employees.
Home is fully equipped with lifts and accessibility equipment. Our son has a dedicated vehicle for outings. He also has a therapy pool which can be used any time. Our home is a small acreage with farm animals. We are a busy and fun family of 5 and our care team plays a pivotal role in our family's dynamic.
