ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking to hire an Intermediate/Senior Mechanical Engineer who will provide mechanical engineering expertise to our project teams, ensuring technical excellence, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements are achieved. The engineer will play an active role in project management duties such as conferring with internal and external stakeholders and preparing all necessary technical documentation. He/she will work closely with the mechanical design and project engineering teams to ensure working plans and technical drawings meet project specifications and goals. The engineer reports to the Mechanical Department Manager and will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding junior‑level members of the team.

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

- Graduate of a recognized university with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Professional Engineering designation with APEGA (must).
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering; EP/EPC experience is desirable.
- Recent experience executing multi‑projects and multi‑disciplined small‑to‑medium sized projects.
- Expertise in piping design and material selection in accordance with oil and gas projects in Western Canada.
- High level of knowledge of oil and gas industry codes and standards, including CSA, ASME, and API.
- Experience in pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II, including NozzlePRO and FE/Pipe or other FEA software (asset).
- Experience with vessel and heat exchanger design to ASME and TEMA standards; COMPRESS, PVElite, or similar software (asset).
- Experience with rotating equipment, such as compressors, gas/steam turbines, pumps, compressor and pump seals, and special‑purpose rotating equipment auxiliary systems (asset).
- Knowledge of CAD design software (filing) (asset).




- Knowledge of appropriate construction methods (asset).
- Previous site/field‑level experience (asset).
- Previous pipeline engineering experience (asset).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and PDF editor programs.
- US PE is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Execute mechanical engineering activities to meet contractual scope, codes, standards, and company/client procedures.
- Perform calculations and develop material takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Stamp and issue drawings.
- Analyze technical issues within core discipline aided by other specialists.
- Develop work plans, execution strategies, and project resource planning given schedule, budget, and scope constraints.
- Perform detailed reviews of mechanical design specifications, drawings, and standard detail drawings.
- Provide drafters with modifications to technical drawings and work plans per engineering techniques and procedures.
- Review and ensure required corrections are completed and meet project standards (high attention to detail).
- Report to the Mechanical Department Manager on progress and coordinate engineering and design team.
- Mentor, direct work, and supervise junior team members regularly.
- Assist in developing discipline‑specific practices and procedures.
- Manage budgets and schedules for assigned scopes; identify slippages and prepare change notices.
- Assist in creating project documents such as RFIs and purchase recommendations.
- Identify new or novel engineering features or software.
- Attend and host team/project meetings and client meetings.
- Partner with stakeholders in proposal writing, marketing presentations, and internal resource organization for prospects.




- Support business development and liaise on opportunities.
- Assist in creating work document packages during project closeout.
- Travel to field for scoping, verification, construction support, and client meetings.
- Complete other relevant duties as required.
