The opportunity

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence. We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The Assistant Director – Industry Groups sits within the Communications & Engagement pillar of EY Canada’s Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) team. The role delivers high‑quality communications for groups focusing on Financial Services, Industrials & Energy, Government & Public Sector, Technology and other sectors. You will shape strategic, market‑relevant storytelling that connects people to growth ambitions and enables client impact.

Reporting to the Associate Director – Internal Communications, you will lead internal communications strategy and execution across Industry Groups, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and a connective force across the firm.

You will be expected to anticipate needs, shape solutions, bring fresh thinking — not simply respond to requests — and inspire a team of communications professionals.

Your key responsibilities

- Act as the primary internal communications advisor for Industry Groups, building strong relationships with senior leaders and their teams.
- Proactively identify communication opportunities aligned to Industry Group strategy, transformation initiatives and performance priorities.
- Translate complex, technical subject matter into clear, compelling and actionable internal communications.
- Design and deliver integrated communications across channels including leader messages, webcasts, intranet, video, presentations and campaigns.
- Partner with other stakeholders to ensure messaging is aligned, timely and effective.
- Measure effectiveness and continuously improve approach based on data and feedback.
- Form meaningful relationships across the Communications & Engagement pillar and the Brand, Marketing and Communications team overall to deliver impact.

What we’re looking for

- A proactive, solutions‑driven communicator who brings ideas and recommendations — not just execution.
- Proven experience advising senior leaders with confidence and professional judgement.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and simplifying complexity.
- Strong writing,

storytelling and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated interest in using AI as a competitive advantage in communications.
- Experience working in a matrixed or professional services environment.
- A passion for people management and upholding team culture.

Skills and attributes for success

- A strategic mindset focused on initiating new ideas and stories to elevate the EY brand.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3+ years managing a team.
- Bachelor’s degree with a Communications or related major; Master’s an asset.
- Deep understanding and proven experience with corporate communications.
- Best‑in‑class skills in writing, editing, consulting, influencing, consensus‑building and interpersonal communication.
- Impeccable attention to detail, exceptional organization and project management and a strong commitment to delivering excellence individually and at the team level.
- Proven ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels to deliver outcomes that drive business objectives.
- Strong business acumen, executive presence and leadership skills.
- Ability to think outside the box and operate with a sense of urgency in developing engaging and innovative communications that resonate across different channels.
- A strong ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times when dealing with highly sensitive business matters or proprietary information.
- Superior ability to contribute to communications deliverables while simultaneously managing, coaching and engaging a team of communications professionals.
- Capacity to manage multiple initiatives while meeting deadlines with a keen focus on the client at the centre of everything you do.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.

Ideally, you’ll also have

- The ability to navigate a highly matrixed organizational structure and make strategic connections to help drive success.
- Experience in measuring, tracking and reporting the effectiveness and results of initiatives to demonstrate impact.
- An aptitude to explore emerging technologies to achieve goals and stay at the forefront of leading communication practices.
- Broad familiarity with business trends, including but not limited to those relevant to professional services firms.
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.

What we offer

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. Plus, we offer:

- Support and coaching from some of the most engaging colleagues in the industry.
- Learning opportunities to develop new skills and progress your career.
- The freedom and flexibility to handle your role in a way that’s right for you.

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. - Toronto: $92,300 to $142,300
