Games studio Clipwire Games is one of Canada’s top grossing mobile game developers and the creator of Monopoly: Bingo!, TPIR: Bingo! and Bingo Story. Founded in Toronto over 10 years ago, we have had tremendous success and are poised for another decade of record growth. Our studio is built on strong values, work ethic, and intelligent data‑driven growth.
Role Overview We’re looking for a Lead Game Designer to shape the creative direction of our existing portfolio while driving the creation of new titles — from initial concept and design through production and release. This role is ideal for a lead designer with deep craft expertise, strong creative instincts, and a genuine passion for building high‑performing teams. You’ll be the design voice in the room — partnering with Product, Development, and Analytics leadership to turn player insight into compelling gameplay, features, and progression systems that keep players coming back.
You’ll set the bar for design quality across the studio and mentor designers to do their best work.
Key Responsibilities - Own and uphold the product vision and design standards for our live titles and new products from concept through release and post‑launch analysis.
- Design features, systems, and live‑ops events grounded in player research and behavioural data, with measurable impact on engagement, retention, and monetisation.
- Develop and refine the game’s economy and balance fine‑tuning currency sinks and sources, progression pacing,
and reward structures to keep the player experience compelling over the long term.
- Own the A/B testing roadmap for design‑led features: scope hypotheses with Analytics, review results, and decide what ships, iterates, or gets cancelled.
- Prepare clear, detailed design documentation covering gameplay mechanics, UX flows, progression systems, and balance using AI‑supported workflows with a sharp eye for vetting generated outputs.
- Collaborate closely with development, art, product, production, and marketing to keep designs aligned and execution smooth.
- Work within defined guidelines for our IP partners and ensure designs, content and updates represent our brands effectively.
- Continuously evolve the design team's workflows, integrating AI tooling where it raises quality or velocity without compromising craft.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of designers: run design syncs and reviews, set performance expectations, support career development, and foster a culture of ownership, adaptability and curiosity. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise - 7+ years in game design with proven experience leading or mentoring a design team.
- Strong portfolio of shipped features and titles demonstrating design craft and commercial impact; direct experience in social casino or bingo titles preferred.
- Hands‑on across the full development lifecycle: market research, prototyping, development, live ops, post‑launch analysis and LiveOps.
- Deep expertise in economy design, balancing, and progression systems, with a strong grasp of mobile UX principles and player journey design.
- Analytical fluency with key mobile metrics and player behaviour,
including practical experience designing and interpreting A/B tests.
- Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to accelerate ideation, documentation, balance modelling, and team communication.
- Excellent written communicator and cross‑functional collaborator, comfortable navigating production trade‑offs and influencing senior stakeholders with clear, well‑evidenced recommendations.
- Passion for games and genuine player empathy. Working at Tripledot - Time Off: 15 days holiday in addition to bank holidays, plus an extra 5 days every 5 years of service.
- Hybrid Work: In‑office 2 days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), with Wednesday optional. Lunch provided on all 3 days.
- Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage + $500 annual wellness benefit.
- Employee Assistance Program: Confidential support available whenever you need it.
- Family‑Friendly Culture: Generous parental leave and supportive environment.
- Company Events: Regular events celebrating achievements and team spirit.
- Professional Development: Ongoing opportunities to grow your career. The expected base pay range for this Canada‑based position is $90,000 to $110,000. Base compensation is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills and experience. It will also be determined based on the position offered and any other forms of compensation that may be part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and other benefits.
