A career as a Legal Advisor on the Legal Affairs – National Bank Financial team means acting as a specialist in civil commercial litigation and regulatory investigations. In this role, you will have a direct impact on critical legal matters, leveraging your expertise in litigation management, legal analysis, and strategic advisory.

Your role

Work on complex and strategic matters that have a significant impact on the activities and operations of the Capital Markets and Wealth Management business lines

Manage litigation files and regulatory investigations, particularly in the area of securities law, in collaboration with team members and business partners

Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of legal and strategic issues by assessing needs and developing tailored solutions requiring strong legal expertise

Collaborate with external legal counsel and ensure alignment between legal strategies and business objectives

Act on matters involving various regulatory authorities, such as the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), Canadian securities commissions, and the Montreal Exchange

Your teamWithin the Legal Affairs – National Bank Financial sector, you will be part of a team of approximately forty colleagues and report to the Vice President, Litigation and Regulatory Investigations, Capital Markets and Wealth Management.

Prerequisites

Bachelor's Degree in Law and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in civil or commercial litigation

Be a Member in good standing in the Barreau du Québec or another Canadian bar

Experience gained in a law firm or in a comparable professional environment

Knowledge of regulatory environments and issues related to financial or institutional markets

Ability to manage complex files and interact with a sophisticated internal client base

Languages: French, English

Reason to require this language: you will need to work closely with our colleagues outside Quebec.
