The Life Enrichment Aide is responsible for assisting residents to achieve physical, social, intellectual, spiritual and emotional fulfillment through creative individual or group programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work collaboratively with Life Enrichment Supervisor/Aides to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plan goals and interventions that are used to develop calendar programming and assist with other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate the ability to work independently, effectively and regularly for day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts.

Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with resident, family and co-workers. Written skills are required for communication and documentation purposes.

Provide support and assist with Resident/Family Council proceedings.

Work cooperatively with other departments to meet the needs of the residents.

Encourage residents to work toward developing their leisure and recreational needs and skills through appropriate, meaningful and innovative programming.

Be knowledgeable of and practicing of Nursing Home policies and procedures, Ministry of Long Term Care Standards, Fixing Long Term Care Act 2021, and the Residents’ Bill of Rights.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:





Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation & leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field (ie: Social Service Worker, Developmental Service Worker) from an Ontario post secondary institution. Post secondary education can include gerontology as a field of study from an Ontario post secondary institution or a postsecondary diploma, degree or certificate granted from an equivalent jurisdiction. Montessori /Dementia care, Food Handler and/or Smart Serve Certificates and experience with Point of Care and Welbi electronic documentation are considered assets.
