Earn a competitive annual salary of $115,000-$125,000, plus excellent benefits and a four-day work week About the Opportunity Scout Talent is currently working on behalf of our client, an established engineering and advanced manufacturing organization, to find a full-time Machine Shop Manager based in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day performance of a busy machine shop and guiding a team of CNC and manual machinists. Combining technical involvement on the shop floor with production planning and people leadership, you will help improve programming capabilities, strengthen operating practices, and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

You will also play an important role in coaching team members, developing internal technical capabilities, and introducing the structure and processes required to support the continued growth of the department. More specifically, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of journeyperson and apprentice machinists

Coordinating daily machine shop activities, labour, equipment, and production priorities

Supporting CNC programming and helping develop programming capabilities across the team

Reviewing technical drawings and planning the machining of complex custom parts

Monitoring workflow, productivity, quality, and on-time completion

Developing and improving standard operating procedures and shop practices

Ensuring production records, time tracking, quality documentation, and completed operations are recorded accurately

Using production management and ERP systems to plan, schedule, and track work

Providing technical input to engineering, sales, and other internal departments





Identifying tooling, equipment, material, and supply requirements

Coordinating equipment maintenance and arranging repairs when needed

Leading practical shop improvements that strengthen safety, quality, and efficiency

Maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused working environment

Providing hands-on technical guidance and problem-solving support when required About You To qualify, you will ideally have 10+ years of machining experience, including previous supervisory or team leadership responsibility. You will also require practical experience with CNC machining and the ability to use CAD/CAM software to program custom parts. Formal certification is not mandatory, and candidates who have developed equivalent skills through extensive industry or international experience are encouraged to apply.

A Machinist Red Seal or eligibility to obtain one will be considered an asset. The following skills and experience will be strong attributes:

A broad understanding of machining processes, machine tools, tooling, workholding, and equipment

Experience supervising, coaching, and developing machinists at varying levels of experience

Strong CNC programming skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical machining challenges

Experience using CAD/CAM software to prepare and program parts

Familiarity with AI-supported programming or manufacturing tools

Experience using ERP or production management systems for scheduling and workflow coordination

Knowledge of quality management systems and controlled production documentation





Experience developing SOPs, production processes, and shop-floor best practices

Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities

Confidence reviewing technical drawings and machining plans
