This isn’t just a job — it’s a chance to be part of a mission‑driven organization doing meaningful work in our community every day.The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced animal care assistant (ACA) to join our emergency department. This is a hands‑on, frontline role where clinical patient care is the priority — and where every team member is also trained and expected to deliver professional, compassionate client communication as a natural extension of that care.This role is full‑time, currently operating Friday through Sunday on rotating day, evening, and overnight shifts, with a clear and planned transition to 24/7 rotating shifts within the next year as the department expands.What You’ll DoSafe handling, restraint, and movement of animals presenting for emergency careSupporting RVTs and DVMs during triage, diagnostics, treatments, and emergency proceduresMonitoring hospitalized and critical patientsMaintaining cleanliness,
sanitation, and infection control standards in treatment and kennel areasPreparing and turning over treatment spaces between casesServing as a point of contact for emergency clients, both in person and by phoneCollecting accurate patient histories and intake informationCommunicating emergency processes, estimates, and next steps to clients with empathy and professionalismManaging admissions, discharges, and payment processing as neededMaintaining accurate medical and administrative records in our practice management systemWhat We’re Looking ForRequired: Minimum 1 year of experience as an Animal Care Assistant (ACA) in a veterinary setting—emergency or urgent care experience is a strong assetStrong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbalAbility to remain calm, focused, and compassionate in fast‑paced, high‑pressure situationsHighly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities without losing attention to detailTeam‑oriented, with the confidence to work independently when the situation demands itFlexibility and reliability for rotating emergency shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidaysBenefits$20.00 – $25.00/hour, commensurate with experienceExtended health and dental benefitsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Paid time off and vacationEmployee discount on veterinary servicesFree parkingA real opportunity to help build and shape the culture, workflows, and standards of a growing emergency departmentInvolvement with VAC-CVP, our community veterinarian outreach programA supportive, values‑driven leadership team that genuinely invests in its peopleScheduleFull‑time | Currently Friday – Sunday, rotating days, evenings, and overnights.
