Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Mississauga, ON
Work Model: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days onsite per week)
Employment Type: Contract
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team focused on developing high-quality mechanical products and systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on product design, testing, validation, and continuous improvement while collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, test plans, and technical documentation.
- Execute mechanical testing and analyze results to identify performance improvements.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for product-related issues.
- Support product enhancements, engineering changes, and manufacturing readiness.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver robust solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, quality requirements, and manufacturing best practices.
- Contribute ideas that improve engineering processes, product quality, and team efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical product design.
- Hands-on experience with Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) and Windchill ; SolidWorks experience is an asset.
- Experience designing CNC machined, sheet metal, die-cast, and injection-molded plastic components.
- Strong understanding of mechanical testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a rapid-paced engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electro-mechanical or opto-mechanical product development.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and manufacturing processes.
- Exposure to precision mechanical assemblies and vision systems.
- Experience collaborating with manufacturing partners and supporting production environments.
