Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) applies the nursing process to support clients, residents, and patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health within a people-centered care approach across various settings:

- Acute
- Transitional
- Personal Care Home (PCH)
- Primary Care
- Oncology/Cancer Care
- Public Health‑Healthy Living
- Home Care

The LPN works to full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education and maintains competency congruent with Southern Health‑Santé Sud policies, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba, the Code of Ethics, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

The incumbent exercises appropriate initiative and independent judgment, determining work priorities, methods, and actions on unusual matters, functioning consistently with the mission, vision, values, and policies of Southern Health‑Santé Sud.

Certification and Registration

- Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in all applicable settings.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence; all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 required.

Qualifications and Skills

- Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for LPNs in Manitoba and Code of Ethics.
- Ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary setting that supports quality services, improvement, and staff empowerment.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Effective oral and written communication.

Physical Requirements

- Meet physical and mental demands of the job.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- Work days, evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
- Travel to other regional facilities as duties may require.

Additional Requirements

- Complete and maintain satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check (candidate responsible for any service charges).
